My Political Priorities

Actual Political Issues - not politicized social issues that should never be on a ballot

I believe politics should be about solving real problems that affect people’s daily lives—not dividing communities over who deserves dignity or respect. Human rights and basic decency should never be partisan issues.

My focus is on the practical responsibilities of government: building strong communities, responsible stewardship of public resources, and ensuring opportunity for everyone who lives here.

Economic Opportunity

I support policies that create good-paying jobs, support local businesses, and strengthen our regional economy. Economic growth should benefit working families, not just corporations or the wealthy. The Gaston County Commissioners have failed to hold corporations accountable when they do not hold up their end of the bargain the commissioners gave them to allow them to conduct business here. Tax breaks, incentives, and optics in exchange for promised jobs that never materialize.

Responsible Government

Taxpayer money should be used wisely and transparently. Government should operate efficiently, invest in infrastructure, and ensure public services actually work for the people who fund them. The Gaston County Commissioners lack transparency in how they vote on most issues and hoard funds, refusing to adequately fund our infrastructure in the name of fiscal conservatism. They have approved exponential growth and failed to fund the infrastructure needed to support said growth.

Education

Strong public schools are essential to strong communities. We should invest in teachers, modern facilities, and educational opportunities that prepare students for college, trades, and the workforce. I am a product of Gaston County Schools, and I know our teachers are overwhelmed with massive class sizes, lack of resources, and laughable pay for the work they do.

Healthcare Access

Access to affordable healthcare is critical for families and communities. No one should have to choose between medical care and financial stability.

Infrastructure & Community Investment

Safe roads, reliable utilities, parks, and community spaces are essential for economic development and quality of life. Strategic investment in infrastructure strengthens communities for generations. The Gaston County Commissioners fail the citizens every budgeting period when they refuse to meet the rising costs of infrastructure.

Public Safety

Communities thrive when residents feel safe. Law enforcement should be properly trained, accountable, and supported in their role to protect and serve the public. Fire departments should have all the necessary firefighting equipment to keep us safe. EMS should have all the resources they need as well. Restricting the spend on these resources, but admitting there is a $200K fund once reserved for relocating the traitorous CSA statue in front of the courthouse, is just one example of mismanagement by the commissioners.

Environmental Responsibility

We should protect our land, water, and air while supporting sustainable economic growth. Responsible stewardship ensures our children inherit a healthy environment. Instead, the Gaston County Commissioners have sold off our lands, acres by the thousands, to build unaffordable housing in an effort to explode our population without any thought about next steps and the implications of unsustainable growth.

Accountability in Leadership

Public officials work for the people. Leaders should act with integrity, listen to their communities, and be accountable for the decisions they make. The Gaston County Commissioners are all the same - it's a classic "good ole boys" club of predominantly white Southern men who leverage personal, often informal, relationships to maintain power and authority. There is a lack of accountability, and they are certainly not interested in holding one another accountable.

Closing Statement

My approach to politics is simple: focus on real issues, real solutions, and real accountability. Government should improve people’s lives—not distract them with manufactured divisions and fail them at every turn.
